How often do I need to renew my credits and when is it due?

For UT contractors, they are due every two years starting within the 2007 renewal period.

For FL contractors, they are due every two years. If you are a certified contractor then it is due August 31 in the even years. If you are a registered contractor then your renewal is due August 31 in the odd years.

What if I don't have a copy of my completed certificate?

Contractor's School can issue you another proof of completion upon request at no additional charge. We also can send a copy to the Division that is requesting the proof of completion if you purchase any of our continuing education courses.

If proof of required continuing education is not submitted, the licensee will be denied renewal.

Are there fines if I do not complete my continue education requirements?

For UT contractors, if you do not complete the requirement within the due date of November 30 odd year. UT contractors will be at risk for an audit with a fine that can be as high as $500 and risk revoking contractor license.

Will I be audited?

For UT Contractors, you do not need to submit your continuing education certificates unless you are audited and specifically requested to do so by the Division. Contractor's School will also keep a record of your certificate and will have them available to request a copy from.

For FL Contractors, providers like Contractor's School, will be required to submit student rosters electronically to the department. This initiative ensures 100% compliance through monitoring.

Who can attend the classes for my company?

For UT contractors, in accordance with Subsections 58-55-501(21) and 58-1-308 (3) (b) (i) (http://www.dopl.utah.gov/laws/R156-55a.pdf ), each licensee, or the licensee's qualifier, or an officer, director or supervising individual, as designated by the licensee shall comply with the continuing education requirements set forth in Section R156-55a-303b.

Any exceptions to continuing education compliance?

For both FL Certified and Registered Contractors, a person is not required to complete any continuing education requirements for the year in which a certificate or a registration is initially issued. Any person who obtains a certificate or a registration more than 12 months prior to the end of a biennial period is required to complete seven hours of approved continuing education as a condition of the first renewal of the certificate of registration.
